LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

By Chapter President Dale Bruder

It has been a very busy Fall and Winter for the Lake Superior Chapter.  We made four youth’s dreams come true with the harvest of four very nice black bears and a Wounded Warrior’s dream of harvesting a large elk happen. We teamed up with some very dedicated and generous dog hunters on the bears.  The Minnesota Elk Breeders Assn. and Tony Beckel of Tony’s Elk Ranch, worked side by side with us in harvesting a very nice 6x6 Elk for one of our nation’s Heroes.

We attended the National Show in Las Vegas and came back convinced that Reno is a much better venue.  Although Vegas is glitzy and impressive, Reno is more intimate and less expensive.  The vendors were more receptive and very generous in donating hunts this year.  The field coordinator staff put on a very interesting seminar in Vegas and it was very well attended.  They had a lot of great ideas to help the chapters make more money at their events.  Returning from Vegas, we swung into serious Banquet- fundraiser mode and with the help of many chapter members, had our biggest and best fundraiser of our short 14 year history.  We had a record number of vendor booths (70) and record attendance both nights.

As I sit here this morning looking out at our lake, there are ducks, geese and swans gracing my view into the East, as the sun begins its assent.  The field is dotted with deer and an early Spring had already turned the field and lawn into a lush green color, wiping out the drabness of Winter.

The primary season is in full swing and there is a feeling of hope in the air, that we can replace the do-nothings in Washington with serious people that want to make a difference for the betterment of our lives.  With the upcoming recall of the first governor in a long time that has really made a difference here in Wisconsin, be sure to vote.  We need to break the back of the old status-quo seekers once and for all.  May God bless our service men and women throughout the world that make it possible for us to go about our daily lives free of fear.

REMEMBER TO SUPPORT OUR YOUTH-THEY ARE THE FUTURE OF HUNTING.
